Company background
Having created Still in 1999 for which he recieved
the Ricard Moragas Prize, Thomas Noone was invited to present a full
evening featuring the works Still, Both and Tread in the Adrià
Gual Theatre in Barcelona. With the group formed for this performance
he then created Credo for the Sitges International Theatre Festival
and officially presented Thomas Noone Dance (TND) at the 2001 edition
of Danza Valencia. Later in the year an extract of Credo received the
first prize at the XIV Certamen de Madrid.
Since Credo, TND has presented Loner (2002) and Triptych
(2003) in L’Espai de la Generalitat de Catalunya in Barcelona,
Maktub, a collaboration with the Dutch Cellist Ernst Reijseger in the
Festival d’Estiu de Barcelona, Grec 2003, Fútil (2004)
a duet for Nuria Martinez and himself, Crush-Crease (2005) in the saT,
Barcelona. During 2007 the company created Mur in January, co-produced
by the Mercat de las Flors and later premiered the work Four, collaboration
with four contemporary composers in the Barcelona’s Festival Grec

In
2008 the company opened for the first time to external choreographers
and invited Guy Weizman and Roni Haver (Club Guy and Roni) to
create the Chaos Quartet which received its premiere in February
in the SaT! theatre. The piece was accompanied by the piece Tort
created by Thomas Noone with music composed by Diego Dall’Osto.
TND has performed extensively
in Spain and abroad gaining the acclaim of both critic and general
audience. The company has participated in national and international
festivals (Madrid en Danza and Dansa Valencia in Spain, Le Temps
d’Aimer le dansa, Reperages; Danse a Lille y Jeune Choréographie
Européenne a Essone in Francia, Trieste per la danza in
Italia, México D.F, Aerodans de Julidans in Amsterdam,
Europe Dance Festival in Cyprus) and have received various prizes
including the Production Prize and the Audience Prize in the first
edition of the Guglielmo Ebreo Competition in Italy.
In 2005 Thomas Noone
Dance became the resident company in the saT! (Sant Andreu Teatre,
Barcelona,) within the Catalan Governments artist residency plan.
In the saT! they are involved not only in the creation of their
new works and performance of their repertory but also in other
activities such as workshops and the Dansat Festival that look
to promote and impulse dance in Barcelona and beyond.
